Today I got the “you know what” kicked out of me.

Emotionally - not physically.

Sometimes you need that.

Sometimes you just got to take it right in the gut so that you can start getting your shit together.

I know easier said than done. I know I’ve told myself and others countless times that I’m working on it. And it continues to look like you haven’t done anything with it.

And you think back and say to yourself, but I did this and I did that and I thought I was fixing it. And then sometimes you just got to have a real quick swift kick in the gonads to push you over the edge towards making a clean break from all your bad habits. And then you realize your paragraph has three sentences starting with “And” which you recall your third-grade teacher telling you to never do. And then in the fourth grade, your teacher told you that only professional writer’s can do that, but that they only do that infrequently.

Where was I? OK, habits — we all got ’em. Some good, some bad, some just ok. Some you can work on, and others you just don’t yet realize that you got. And there are those that you are working on that aren’t making very much progress on the surface. At least that’s how I’m rationalizing my talk with my wife this morning.
